Every year Child Protective Services in our county hosts a summer movie at Studio Movie Grill. The first time we went it was just me and Jessie. The movie was Ice Age 3: Dawn of the Dinosaurs. We sat on the side with my friend Hannah, her son Peter, and her infant placement. I didn’t know what to expect and packed a Lunchable and drinks for Jessie. I was pleasantly surprised that there was pizza for everyone. There were also sodas and popcorn. I let Jessie have Sierra Mist and pizza, but not popcorn. She didn’t really pay much attention to the movie and only got a little scared a few times.
Last summer the movie was Shrek Ever After. I wanted to go so badly. Not only was the showing the weekend after Jessie’s tonsil and adenoid surgery, but it was the day we had to drive Grandma to the airport.
This year’s movie was Cars 2 in 3-D. The invitation specified that lunch off the children’s menu was included. I was very excited about this movie but a little concerned about 3-D glasses on little children.
We got to the theater earlier than the 1:15 check-in time. We checked in and waited to enter the theater. All the children got a Cars 2 sticker book. Jessie chose our seats on the aisle in the center section. She made friends with the kids around her and I chased Baby E up and down the aisle.
When the movie started, Baby E was more interested in it than Jessie was. Jessie got very antsy and wanted to turn around and chat or get up. Daddy spent the movie trying to keep Jessie entertained and I followed Baby E.
The movie was terrible, but the children seemed to like it. I cannot wait for next year.
