I mentioned recently about Disney’s plans to step up their video game investment? Well, we’ll be seeing more of that this fall as Disney launches a new line of video games specifically targeting young girls. Disney Princess: Enchanted Journey features some favorite princesses in jeopardy and only the young girl playing can save them. Also to be released this summer is Disney Princess: Magical Jewels for the Nintendo DS.
My daughter, for one, will be thrilled. She enjoys playing some games, but she likes the princesses and Barbie best. The idea of being able to play with her princesses on the game systems will definitely appeal. Disney Princesses: Enchanted Journey will also be available on the Playstation 2 and Windows PC as well as the Nintendo Wii.
According to Jessica Oifer, the senior brand manager for Disney Interactive Studios:
Based on a brand that girls and parents already know and trust, the Disney Princess video games are designed with young girls in mind through accessible, challenging and fun game play. We know that Disney Princess could be a young girl’s first entry into videogames. We embrace the simplicity required by this age group while providing a challenging and rewarding experience set in beautiful Princess worlds. Not only are the games fun, they also introduce players to the positive attributes that make a true princess: courage, friendship, trust and the joy of discovery
Girls will be able to customize their heroine in Disney Princess: Enchanted Journey and they will be able to participate in an adventure to help the Disney Princesses including Ariel, Cinderella, Snow White and more to restore order in their kingdoms. The game will allow girls to choose a character name and select her skin tone, hair color, dress and more.
Their designed princess will then meet and interact with the Disney Princesses in the games. Each princess will have her own unique story. The stories are designed to inspire attributes and qualities in the players including friendship, trust, discovery and courage. Two player mode will allow young girls to play with their parents or their friends so they can work together to fix these worlds.
Disney Princess: Magical Jewels will allow girls to play a Disney Princess. It’s designed to be self-paced and girls can restore magic to their kingdoms through different levels of solving puzzles and performing tasks. Magical Jewels is scheduled to be released in November, just in time for Christmas and will likely retail for about $29.99. Both games are rated E for Everyone.
Will you be getting your girls some Disney Princess games?
