“Disney’s Pop Century Resort is Disney’s newest value resort. Taking its cue from a century’s worth of pop culture history, Disney’s Pop Century features such kitschy decor as an oversized Rubik’s Cube and a psychedelic 1970s resort area. A favorite of Disney value connoisseurs, this value resort remains a favorite because of its closer proximity to the other resort areas and its unique theming.”
Pop Century is kitschy but that’s part of what makes it so much fun. This resort was designed by Arquitectonica of Miami, Florida. The goal was to capture the essence of 20th century American pop culture. How many of us have fond childhood memories of Big Wheel bikes, 50’s style jukeboxes, Yo-Yos, and Tinkertoys? Better yet, how many of us buy those toys for our kids and love playing with them long after the kids have gone to sleep?
Pop Century has two areas: Legendary Years and Classic Years. Both have 2,880 rooms each. Legendary Years is designed around the pop culture of 1900 to the 1940’s while Classic Years covers 1950 to the 1990’s.
Guest rooms are small at 260 square feet each but will easily accommodate up to four adults in two double beds and one child under three in a crib. Each room has a table and two chairs, a 27″ television with cable, full bath, in-room safe, and telephone with voicemail/data port. Hair dryers, irons and ironing boards are available free on request and refrigerators are available for an additional fee of $10.00 per day.
Amenities include free parking, valet and coin operated laundry, a gift shop, babysitting and child care, three heated pools as well as a kiddie pool, a playground with a fountain and an arcade.
Dining options include a cafe offering coffee, specialty drinks and snacks; A food court that offers fast foods for breakfast, lunch and dinner as well as the refillable mug program; And a pool bar that serves snacks, sandwiches and drinks. Limited pizza delivery is also available.
As with all Walt Disney World resorts, free daily transportation is provided to and from all Disney World parks.
Another great benefit to staying at a Walt Disney World resort is that although you may not be able to check in before 4 pm, you can leave your luggage with Guest Services in the morning and they’ll have it waiting for you in your room when you check in.
