We’ve all made mistakes in our lives. What is important is that we are able to move past them and go forward with our lives. They do not define who we are; they are simply bumps in the road to where we ultimately want to be; without them we would not be where we are today.
From each mistake made is a lesson to be learned. Perhaps you learned who you don’t want to be. Perhaps it was something smaller. Regardless, you took something away from that decision. You have no control over your past; it cannot be changed, but your future can. You are in charge of the person you are today. If you don’t like the choices that you’ve made, be sure not to make them again, and move forward. Don’t let them hold you back from being the person you want to be today.
Remember that nobody is perfect. We have all done things in our lives that we wish we hadn’t. Instead of focusing on how different we wish things could have been, embrace that you did your best with the information that you were given. Whether or not it was the right choice, it was the choice you made, and it was the right one for you, because you gained something from it whether it was good or bad. We can’t always know the consequences of our decisions or the effect it will have on us and our children, but the important thing is that we are always striving to make the right decision and do what is best for our children. If they are your focus, you can’t go too far wrong.
Your mistakes do not define you, it is what you do with those mistakes that shows who you really are. Put your past behind you, move forward, and show the world the person you are today.
