Did you know that you can actually make money with your website or blog? Thousands of people already do this, making enough money to “quit their day jobs” and support themselves with income earned directly on their website. How do they do it? Read on to find out some of the avenues for making money on the web.
In the last article, we covered affiliate programs and selling banner space as ways to make your website generate income for you. Now we will talk about some other techniques to make owning a website very lucrative.
Let us talk now about sponsorships
With the sponsored review method, you review products and services on your blog and get paid for each review. This gives you an opportunity to write reviews on a wide range of different topics, from hotels to books. Some of the legitimate companies that hire you to write these reviews include: PayPerPost, Sponsored Reviews, ReviewMe, BlogVertise, Smorty, and the list continues to grow.
You can make some good money this way, but many writers shy away from this way of making money because it might compromise their editorial credibility. I personally shy away from reading blogs that have too many sponsored reviews, because I feel as though the content is one big commercial. Not all bloggers or companies require the disclosure of the fact that the review is sponsored. If your blog is a popular one, you can cut out the middleman and do sponsored reviews directly for companies.
Another method for making money from your website involves getting sponsors for columns, content or events. If your website has a regular column, content series, survey, podcast, or special interview, you can get companies to directly sponsor that particular area, individually. This can be very lucrative for the website owner. The sponsors like this approach, to, since they can target their advertising. For example, a contest on the ugliest car in America could draw sponsorship from car dealers, car wax manufacturers, body shops and even resume services (to get a new job and afford a new car).
