One of the most talked about topics in Walt Disney World and Disneyland news is the upcoming refurb on the classic Pirates of the Caribbean attraction. With the amazing success of the film, Pirates of the Caribbean: The Curse of the Black Pearl, it was only a matter of time until the ride upon which the film was based received its due update.
If you recall, in an article written earlier this year, I went over the proposed changes to the ride which included adding the infamous character of Captain Jack Sparrow, Barbossa, and the newest villain of the soon-to-be film trilogy, the tentacled Davy Jones. Along with a number of new special effects and a new narration, the ride is set to reopen along with the premiere of Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Man’s Chest this June and July.
Fans everywhere have been wondering how the changes will affect the classic attraction. However, just a few days earlier, conceptual art was leaked onto the internet to give fans of the park and film alike a little idea of what we will be seeing when the ride reopens in mid-summer.

Captain Barbossa will now overlook visitors as they descend into the age of pirates past.
The rides are slated to reopen with their aforementioned changes on June 25th at the Disneyland Resort and on July 6th at the Walt Disney World resort.
