What’s the number one excuse we usually hear for someone not exercising? It’s that they don’t have time. I used to say the same thing but quite honestly, we really do make time for what we want to do.
I have always been up and down with my fitness routines. I can be going good for a spell and then suddenly something comes along to interrupt my day and I get off course.
Since I work from home it might seem like I would have all the time in the world to squeeze in exercise. Believe it or not that’s not always true. Some weeks I receive a lot of writing assignments, so suddenly time becomes an issue.
But like I said, we really do make time for what we want to do. If I were to be honest with myself a heavy week of work actually means an excuse I can use to not exercise.
Think about your schedule. Most of us are probably very busy people. I am a wife and a mom of three children. I work full-time at home as a freelance writer and I am very involved in my church. I love to socialize and spend time with friends. Life is constantly busy and I am rarely bored.
However I also find time to watch TV, enjoy Facebook, send emails and read books. So if I have time for those things then I most certainly have time for exercise. I am officially throwing the excuse of not having enough time out the door. And it’s going to stay out the door. I refuse to allow that excuse back into my life.
I will admit that one of my great enjoyments is television. I usually can’t watch these shows when they are on, so I record some of my favorites: American Idol, Dancing with the Stars, Celebrity Apprentice and so on. I have come to realize that even if I truly couldn’t squeeze in half an hour of exercise, I could do it while watching one of my shows.
I could do step aerobics, run in place, do some stretching exercises, the list is endless. Maybe TV isn’t your thing. You might have other activities that could also incorporate exercise. Do whatever you can to get rid of the excuse that you don’t have time. Make time and you will be so glad that you did.
