When the drawers won’t close in the kids rooms, then I know that the clothes have gotten out of hand. I try hard to keep their clothes organized and to a minimum as much as possible, because in the long run, it really does save money. It is just during this transition time in between seasons, when the mornings are cool and the days are warm that the drawers and closets get disorganized.
The changing season and back to school wreck havoc. Between needing new things that fit the size and the weather, and the busyness that comes before settling in to the school year, the clothes, the laundry and the rooms suffer.
So, today, I have to dedicate at least a portion of my free hours (go ahead and laugh) to getting everything back to some sort of organization. Why?
When you are organized, you know what you have, and you are less likely to have to purchase something lost. You are also less likely to buy duplicates or more than you really need. Go ahead and shop the clearance aisles for next year, but keep a list somewhere of what you buy.
With less clothes, comes less maintenance. There is no need to refold stacks of wrinkled clothing that got tossed on the bed or the floor when someone was looking for a favorite shirt. Get it down to the items that fit well, are loved and will be worn. It is fine to accept all of the hand me downs that you are offered. It is one way to really save. Just make sure to go through the “new” clothes as soon as they come in the house. Sort them, store the ones that will work and pass the others on to be a blessing for someone else.
