Last week on “The View” they had a special segment with the author, Rocco Dispirito, of “Now Eat This! Diet” where he claims you can lose 10 pounds in just two weeks.
Rocco says that when you eat more food, your metabolism works at a higher rate and you burn calories faster. However if you starve yourself and you binge after, your body processes those calories as fat. He says there is scientific and medical evidence that shows if you eat more, you lose weight faster.
In his diet you eat six times a day, every two-and-a-half hours. On the show he had “The View” ladies sitting down to a table that was filled with goodies such as meatballs, chocolate cookies, fried chicken and other goodies.
Of all the foods he showed, he said you can eat a serving of each type of food and you would be eating 1,200 calories. So how is this possible? I will get to that.
I loved the one thing he pointed out was how so much of diet foods taste like diet foods—in other words, not very delicious. So he says that we don’t want to eat diet food. Think about it. If you are eating food that isn’t very tasty, how likely are you to continue to eat it? So what he did as a professional chef was to make food taste better and yet be healthier.
Well as an example he had chicken which had 62 fat grams and 1120 calories before he “made it over.” What he did was poach it first until it was fully cooked (you will have to Google what it means to poach a chicken), then he flash fries it for 10 seconds. By the way, I had to look up flash frying because I wasn’t familiar with this cooking term either. It means to heat something at a high temperature for a short period of time.
The crust was made from fine cornmeal and adobo seasoning. By the time he was done the chicken then had 8 fat grams and 374 calories.
His book contains 80 recipes and he breaks them down into color-coded recipes where certain ones might have higher calories than another. This helps you to pick and choose different recipes but know how many calories you are getting.
It sounds a bit intriguing and I think I might just have to purchase this book. At any rate, it might be something that piques your interest as well. If you happen to have this book, please share what your thoughts are.
