Just when you thought the state of Florida couldn’t churn out any more crazy, the horrific story of 17-year-old Tyler Hadley emerges.
According to police, the Port St. Lucie teen is sitting behind bars right now following the grizzly discovery of his bludgeoned parents in the family’s Florida home.
Officer say Blake and Mary-Joe Hadley were allegedly smashed in the head with a 22-inch hammer and left for dead late Saturday night.
So, who would do such a dastardly deed to two well-respected members of the community?
Police say the double murder is the work of the Hadley’s son Tyler, who stooped to a new low by hosting a party in the family’s home while his parents lay dead in their master bedroom. Reports claim that Tyler covered the bloody bodies with towels, books and pictures then locked the bedroom door so his guests wouldn’t know what had transpired prior to the party.
Yes, par-tay.
According to a slew of teenage guests, Tyler used his Facebook page to invite more than 50 friends to his home for a summer soiree that reportedly started between 9 and 10 p.m. on Saturday and lasted until two Sunday morning.
Police believe Tyler’s parents were killed before the party and that some attending the shindig knew the bodies were inside at the time.
Local news reports claim a neighbor called police when the noise from the party got out of control, but officers didn’t arrive until 4:20 Sunday morning. When Tyler answered the front door police say the teen appeared “nervous” and “skittish.” A short time later, cops discovered the Hadley’s bodies and hauled Tyler off to jail. Police believe the teen acted alone and charged him with two counts of first degree murder.
The despicable tragedy robs the earth of a beloved couple (Blake Hadley was a well-known worker for Florida Power and Light while Mary-Joe was a first-grade teacher at a local elementary school) and lands their teen son in the slammer.
A son, who was callous enough to kill his own parents, and then party the night away while their decomposing corpses lay just feet from his dancing guests.
Does it get much creepier?
