Looking to put some spice into your Valentine’s Day layouts? After a few years of scrapbooking the same old Love Day designs with candy, heart and cupid themes, I wanted to try something new. Since I rarely use quotes in my layouts I figured I would take inspirational words to a new level by adding them to my Valentine’s Day titles and journaling blocks.
Some of my favorite love-themed quotes include:
“For thy sweet love remember’d such wealth brings,/ That then I scorn to change my state with kings.” – William Shakespeare
You can’t have a Valentine’s Day spread without including some wise words from Shakespeare. The world-famous poet and playwright finds the most eloquent way to express the idea that love is priceless and that spending time with that special someone is worth more than all the riches of the world.
“Love is a friendship set to music.” – E. Joseph Cossman
This versatile quote can be used on layouts that feature your spouse or high school buddy. The quote focuses on the importance of friendship, so you are not limited to using it with lovers alone.
“Nothing takes the taste out of peanut butter quite like unrequited love.” – Charles M. Schulz
I saw this in a greeting card at Hallmark last year and instantly thought of Charlie Brown and the Little Red-Haired Girl. Unrequited love is part of life. I would consider using the quote (if you dare) on a layout that includes photos of your childhood crushes, or even your adult celebrity crushes. After all, there’s nothing more endearing than someone who is able to make fun of herself.
“The moment my eyes fell on him, I was content.” – Edith Wharton
This romantic quote speaks of love at first sight. Or does it? Some interpret it as a lack of love at first sight since contentment doesn’t always equate to full-blown passion. Personally, I think the greatest love includes contentment and peace.
