I was recently watching a local talk show (similar to the “The View” but hosted by newscasters) and one of them was talking about something called Feng Shui. It is an ancient Chinese means of balancing the energies in a room in order to give those who live in it good health and fortune.
Since it follows the Taoist vision, I personally don’t believe in the balancing of “energy.” My belief system is a little different but I still thought it had some interesting concepts, especially when it comes to mapping out a room with this.
In my next blog I am going to specifically look at how your bedroom can be mapped with Feng Shui. But for today, I thought I would give you a general idea of what this is.
There are five elements to Feng Shui, which are represented by colors. These colors are supposed to bring more “harmony” to your home. So if you incorporate these colors, you will be helping to balance the energy within the walls of where you live.
The five elements of Feng Shui are:
Wood – green, brown
Fire – red, strong yellow, orange, purple, pink
Earth – light yellow, sandy/earthy light brown
Metal – white, gray
Water – blue, black
While this sounds kind of simple, that all you need to do is bring in these colors, it is actually much more complicated. You must place these colors in the right area of your room in order to achieve this balance of energy.
This is done through a map, which as I already indicated, will be discussed in my next blog. Until then, I thought some readers might be interested in learning more about this.
Do you incorporate Feng Shui into your home? If so, what has been your personal experience? Do you believe it really brings harmony and good health?
