Contact Lens Cases and Old Nylons- Oh My!

Another day of finding uses for things that tend to pile up around the house. Do you wear contacts? If you do you probably have more than a handful of the little lens cases. What can you do with them besides toss them out?

Time to think outside of the box again. Here are a few things you can do with old contact lens cases.

You can store small earrings in them when you are traveling or even just to keep them from getting lost in your jewelry box.

Keep your ear plugs clean and close at hand in a contact lens case.

Use for small amounts of toiletries when you are traveling. They are perfect for eye cream and one use of shampoo and conditioner.

Keep ibuprofen or aspirin from getting lost in your purse. You can also put your daily medicine or vitamins in them.

If you like to bring a small amount of salt or sugar or other spice with you to lunch or dinner, fill up the lens cases and you’re ready to go.

Now that the contact lens cases are finding new homes what about all those old nylons with runs?

Use them to strain lumpy paint. They are also great for applying varnish and stain to wood. Keep a few pairs of old nylons in your trunk in case you need to tie the trunk down to bring something home. When searching for a contact lens or an earring on the floor, put a nylon over your vacuum hose and gently vacuum the area.

Nylons can be used to tie tomatoes and other vegetables to stakes in the garden. When you dig up flower bulbs put them in a nylon and hang to dry.

Nylons are great for getting down cobwebs. Put one over a yardstick to clean hard to reach corners and then use it to clean under the refrigerator and stove without having to pull them out.

I’m on a roll now, everything in my house is getting new life. Who knows what tomorrow will bring.
