It’s nearly Christmas. Are you looking for a homemade teacher gift for your child’s teacher? Teachers work very hard all year, and Christmas is a good time to show them how much they are appreciated. Whether you’re making something for a soccer coach, Girl Scout leader, or your child’s classroom teacher, here are some ideas for last-minute Christmas gifts.
1. A homemade card
I volunteer in a number of ways in the community. I always appreciate the thought behind a homemade card. I don’t need a lot of things, but a message of love in a card is always appreciated.
2. Homemade artwork
The same goes for homemade artwork. Frame a tiny art piece that your child has made, or have your child decorate a reusable bag or other reusable item, such as a mug.
3. A magnet with a quote
Fridge magnets are always useful in our house, to hold up all of that burgeoning fridge art. Your child can type or write a saying that inspires or a simple “thank you,” then place it onto a magnet backing.
4. Freezer jam
If you freeze fruit, freezer jam is very simple to make. Get freezer jam pectin, add some sugar, and smash the fruit, and you have jars and jars of small and easy gifts for those you love.
5. Braided bread
This one may not be quite as quick, but if you need to do some baking anyway, why not take a little bit of dough and turn it into a braided bread? Wrap it up with a bow and give it to your favorite teacher.
6. A donation to a child-friendly cause
Often, teachers get enough mugs and goodies during the Christmas season. Donate to a children’s hospital or to another cause that supports children in your community, and let your child’s teacher know that you donated in her name.
