Register Faster

I recognize not every woman loves to register for gifts. It can be time consuming, and when you’re pregnant, spending that much time walking through the store, aisle by aisle, can be daunting. Registering online is certainly an option, but what I discovered when I was registering for my baby shower, is that stores like Babies R Us have a completely separate stock on their website than they do in the store. I talked to an associate recently and he told me that the online store is run separately from the stores; they do not even share the same warehouse! There is overlap, obviously, in what they carry, but often times you will find a lot of items in the store that you can’t buy online.

My strategy for speeding up the registry process is simple. When you first get to the store, grab the registry gun and walk up and down every aisle, very quickly. Scan everything you like. Don’t even worry about quantity, just scan it if you want it. The great thing about creating a registry is your ability to edit it online later. It’s easy to change the quantity of an item, delete it, or add new items.

After you have registered in the store, go online and fine tune your registry from the comforts of home. Add items you forgot or items that are available online only (for those out of town guests). Adjusts the quantities where necessary and delete the items you have changed your mind about. If you have time, read some of the reviews on the items you chose and decide if you still want those items on you registry.

One tip is to print out your registry at the store before you leave. That way, if the listing of a store-only item is nondescript, you will still know what it is by looking at the store registry printout, which should include more details.
