Recently Heather Long has bombarded me with a slew of articles telling me to get back into shape after the birth of my twins. Well, okay, she probably wasn’t writing just for me. But oh, how I needed to be inspired. So I bought a pedometer to start tracking my steps. I am now four weeks into my journey with my pedometer and I love her. I may name her. Since her arrival in my life, I have lost weight, but more importantly–I feel better. Are you looking for some type of fitness to do but aren’t sure what? Buy a pedometer and join me on my journey!
My Background
If you don’t know this already, I have five kids under the age of 7, including a set of twins. This means I had five children in a little less than 6 years! Suffice it to say that gravity, pregnancy and cravings have taken their toll on my body. About the time that I was ready to start attempting a serious exercise program–I was pregnant again.
Further complicating the issue are the twins. The delivery in my case, was so difficult, I couldn’t even think about exercise for a full 16 weeks after birth! Not only did the pregnancy wreak havoc with my body, cause fairly severe diastasis, and increase what I lovingly refer to as the ’gravity’ effect–but who has time for exercise right now? I am a homeschooling mom, so it’s not like I can fit it in while some of the kids are in school. Not only that, but you try chasing twins around all day and see if you feel like a good cardio workout afterwards. Getting up early, by the way, is only an option when I start to average more than 2 hours a sleep per night. I am fairly confident in saying, I may be one of the busiest moms in the world. Which brings me to my next point. . .
I Love My Pedometer
Counting steps is a nifty way to help me get back into shape. Not only does it let me count my trips to the laundromat, or strolling the twins to sleep, as exercise but it gives me a tangible goal. There is an expression that says, “If you aim for nothing, you’ll get there every time.” How true that is!
