My summer is just whooshing by. I’ve heard from other mothers that they feel the same way, so I thought I’d try to think of some extremely quick and easy ways to celebrate summer.
1. Slice up a watermelon for an afternoon snack or dessert. Have some wet wipes or paper towels handy.
2. Have a water gun fight. If you don’t have water guns, scoops of water out of a bucket or kiddie pool work too.
3. Buy a box of fancy popsicles, they come in sorts of fun flavors and varieties now.
4. Get some lovely fresh and juicy summer fruits like strawberries, blueberries, cherries, peaches, or nectarines.
5. Put your regular lunch or dinner on unbreakable plates and eat outside. If you don’t have an outdoor table, a towel spread in the shade works fine too.
6. Or take sandwiches and juice boxes to the park for an easy picnic. Paper plates are nice, but you can eat right out of paper sacks to make things even easier.
7. Buy some glow sticks and let the kids run around the yard when it’s just getting dark. If you don’t have a yard, running around inside can work too as long as there aren’t dangerous things for the kids to run into.
8. Make a pitcher of homemade lemonade.
9. Make a moat in the sand box and add some bath toys.
10. Avoid the back to school display at the store, at least for a couple more weeks. Pick up some summer fun supplies like outdoor dishes and lawn chairs. They are already on sale here!
None of these ideas take very long. I hope they encourage you to enjoy the last half of the summer and that maybe the season isn’t whooshing by so fast for you and your family.
