103 Reasons NOT to Feel Guilty

I found a list in the March 2005 issue of babytalk. I thought it was cute. It’s 103 Things Not To Feel Guilty About. Here are some of my favorite ones that relate to being a parent.

(1) Lusting after your childless friends travel plans.

(2) Not wanting to go back to work after having a baby.

(3) Dressing the baby in whatever’s on top of the laundry pile.

(4) Calling home to check on the babysitter every 15 minutes or so.

(5) Wanting to talk about the baby during a night out.

(6) Wanting to talk about anything but the baby during a night out.

(7) Taking millions of digital photos but never downloading them or sending them to anyone.

(8) Needing caffeine to get your through the day.

(9) Opting to bottle-feed.

(10) Returning a baby gift and using the credit to get youself something nice.

(11) Making people wash their hands before they go near your baby.

(12) Not having your baby on any type of schedule.

(13) Letting your baby watch a video so that you can shower or eat.

(14) Preferring a good nights sleep over sex.

(15) Wanting to spend Mother’s Day alone at a spa getting pampered.

(16) Having an easy delivery.

(17) Keeping your pajamas and slippers on all day.

(18) Re-gifting baby gifts.

(19) Nursing in public just to keep your baby quiet.

(20) Knowing what’s on PBS Kids but not having a clue what’s going on in the world.

(21) Thinking your baby is smarter than other babies his age.

(22) Feeling lonely when you are home with your baby.

(23) Not being able to read to your child every single day.

(24) Deciding not to have any more kids.

(25) Sitting in the bathroom just to get some time alone.

(26) Not being able to click with the other mothers in the playgroup.

(27) Letting your husband worry about putting all the baby gear together.
