One of the best baby shower presents I received was a pack of 24 washcloths from an experienced mom. At the time, I thought it was a strange gift. Now I know better! Washcloths are so much more cost-effective than wipies. They hold up better for the big messies, and are soft and gentle on baby’s skin.
My “baby” is now in double-digits, but I still appreciate a good washcloth. They’re still great for dirty faces and bath time, but I find myself using them just as often in the kitchen. We don’t have a dishwasher, and we have several people. That means a LOT of dishes to wash. I prefer the heft of a washcloth rather than a dishcloth. It may take a little extra effort, but it yields better results.
Kohl’s has them on sale 12 for $2.99 (+.99 shipping). They’re decent quality (normally $9.99). With shipping, that’s three for a dollar. You’d be hard-pressed to make them for that amount. At this price, you can get a dozen for the bath, a dozen for the kitchen, and a dozen for the garage. They’re available at the sale price in cream and white only. White is best for a baby gift or for use on your own babies because spit up (or other stains) can be bleached out. Don’t forget to run their laundry through an extra rinse cycle.
While you’re there, look at the rest of their bath items on sale. Another good deal I found was bath towels for $3.29. That’s a decent price for a mid-range quality towel. What I liked was that they come in red. In a fit of madness one weekend while Paul was gone, I painted our bedroom 49er-red. He actually likes it. Finding a bargain on red towels for the master bath, though, has been a challenge so I’m happy to see this one!
