If you can manage a day at home instead of out and about you will save money. There is nothing really special that you need to do, but the savings will rack up. The more staying home days you can manage in a month, the more you will save.
Staying home doesn’t have to be boring. You may be surprised at all of the things that you can do at home. Yes, there is the cleaning and organizing, but there may also be the book you wanted to read, board games with the kids, etc.
Another benefit of staying home is less stress from running around, so staying at home may be good for your health. Still, we are talking about being frugal, so let’s take a look at twelve ways that staying at home saves money.
You don’t use gas in the car
You don’t add milage to your car
You don’t spend money on a snack, lunch or dinner out
You can use the time home to cook an inexpensive meal or freezer cook for the week ahead
You can catch up on laundry reducing the need for more clothes
You can wear older more worn clothes, again reducing the need for more clothes
You can hang your clothes and save almost $1 per large load
You don’t buy toys, books, videos, shoes or anything else that tends to tempt you
You reduce your grocery costs by getting creative with what you have (reducing food waste, too)
You can find some ways to make money at home, even if it is just gathering outgrown things and selling them online
You can renew your spirit with family time instead of expensive entertainment or therapy
You will have time for a minor home improvement project, such as caulking drafty windows
