Fall inspires romance doesn’t it? Seems like love is in the air everywhere you turn. The cooler weather makes it ideal for snuggling up closer to the one you love. The changing colors are a good excuse to go for a drive or a walk and enjoy some time together.
Those are just a couple of the more popular ways to capture couple time this fall, but there are others. Here’s some ideas inspired from my own experiences as well as from articles I’ve read (and noted herein) written by fellow Families.com bloggers.
Passing Time at Patches, Orchards, and Farms
1. Pick pumpkins at a pumpkin patch or apples from an orchard.
2. Sample apple cider from local vendors. (If applicable in your area. If not, maybe it’s an excuse to get away for a weekend?)
3. Take a hayride.
4. Get lost together in a corn maze.
5. Visit a winery. (Is there really a bad time of year to visit a winery? They’re enduring romantic destinations, aren’t they?)
6. Browse the goods at a farmer’s market. (See a suggestion under “Your Own Backyard” below for what to do with any yummies you buy.)
Halloween Related
7. Carve pumpkins together. Have a contest to see who can be funniest, spookiest, or most romantic. (Who says you can’t carve hearts or “I Love You” into a pumpkin instead of the standard Jack-O-Lantern face? Maybe you could even find a way to making smooching pumpkins?)
8. Visit a haunted house.
9. Take a ghost tour.
10. Dress up for Halloween as a couple. (Decide together whether you want to be something spooky, funny, sexy, from days gone by, or classic characters.)
11. Snuggle up and watch a horror movie together.
In Your Own Backyard –Literally
12. Before you bag those leaves you raked, why not indulge your inner child? Jump in them, fall in them, throw them. Yeah, you’re going to have to rake them up again, but every once in a while it does a relationship good to act silly.)
13. Break out your chiminea or fire pit, build a fire, and enjoy. (My favorite way is by putting our camp chairs close together and sharing a blanket while we indulge in s’mores fixings or a cup of hot cocoa.)
14. Create a picnic with food bought at a farmer’s market. (Or maybe make it an eat- by-the-light-of-the-fire-pit kind of dinner.)
Road Trippin’ It to Enjoy the Colors
15. Book a weekend at a B&B in prime leaf-peeping territory.
16. Go horseback riding to get a different perspective on enjoying the scenery.
17. Hike or bike ride through tree-laden trails.
