Continuing on from the first 12 blessings of my last blog, here are the next 13 as they came to me.
13. For the privilege of prayer and the answers He has given me
14. For the friends he has brought into my life
15. For daily reminders of His love as I read His Word and as look around me at the beauty of creation
16. That I was able play five sets of tennis yesterday and am physically able to do that and enjoy being with other people – Christian and non Christian.
17. For opportunities to talk of the Lord and what He means to me.
18. For families.com and the relationship I have with others here even though we have never met in person and I live in different parts of the world
19. For my happy childhood and years growing up when I realize listening to others that this was not so.
20. For being an only child and the close relationship I had with parents, especially my mother, since I had more years with her. My father died when I was 16. My mother when I was in my early 30s. For the years I had with them and the memories I have.
21. For the love, good times and celebrations we share with family and the memories we are making.
22. For books and being able to read them and for the gift of sight.
23. For our little pup and the source of joy she is and that her training was not a major drama and how well she has fitted into our household.
24. For the sounds of laughter of children.
25. For an electrician who quickly and efficiently fixed a fault in one of our ceiling fans.
Those 25 were all written as the thoughts came to me in a short space of time but I could have kept going. That’s the funny thing about counting your blessings. The more you start to be thankful, to think about and write down the blessings, the more you think of other blessings to add to the list. Try it and you’ll see.
If you think it’s just me living a charmed life who has discovered this secret of thankfulness you’d be wrong on both counts. My life has had periods of great sorrow and difficulties as other people’s do, but there’s always been something to be thankful for and blessings even in the hard times. Tomorrow I’m going to direct you to some others who have discovered this same secret of counting blessings and being thankful.
