Amazon has a new free MP3 download every day! It’s the Amazon 25 Days of Free promotion for free Christmas music! Amazon is repeating this popular Christmas shopping gift this year, after the overwhelming popularity it enjoyed last year.
I’ve really been having fun with this. Rather than risk my computer’s health with file sharing sites that download all kinds of viruses along with music, it’s fun to see what Amazon has for free – because it changes every day.
From now through the Christmas, Amazon will have one free music download. Today it was Casting Crowns version of Joy to the World. Go search free MP3s on Amazon, and you will have a wealth of music for your MP3 player in different styles. This is how record companies introduce you to new artists, and get you to listen to new sounds.
Coming freebies will probably include Tori Amos’ “Snow Angel” from her new album “Midwinter Graces”, and Lady Gaga’s “Christmas Tree” from her new album “Peach on Earth”. Actually these songs are already included in Amazon’s total list of freebies. But it’s fun to see what they feature each day. I think I’ll pass on Lady Gaga though!
Amazon wants you to join their music download service. They have about 10 million or so songs for the low price of $.99, and many low cost $5.99-$7.99 albums. Amazon’s songs are DRM-free. You can get them to work on any machine, including your phone. You may have noticed that the Amazon MP3 application is already preloaded on your new phone.
I don’t need music on my phone – yet. But I am sure the day is coming when the phone/ipod/computer will be one very convenient and portable device. Meantime, I enjoy the sounds of Christmas, free from Amazon. For now, that’s at home, on my computer, with speakers that fill my home with great music.
Surfing through Amazon’s more than 500 free downloadable songs is a great way for me to relax after work, and I love having the mp3 play during dinner and my down time.
