3 Easy ways to Lower Your Electric Bill

Here are some sure wire ways to lower your electric bill. Try one of them or all of them. The more you do, the more energy savings you will have. Here is a quick checklist. Go around your home and see what you can easily tackle. The effort will result in extra money in your bank account.

Install dimmer switches

Every time you dim your lights, you use less energy and extend the life of your light bulbs. Just think, dimming them by a mere 10 percent will shave 10 percent off of the energy that light uses. I love dimmer switches because they can create only as much light as you need. My husband jokes that I do everything in the dark, which is pretty close to true. But, when he comes home, he can turn the lights back up. We do the same with the heat, but that is another story.

Install LED lights

I know you must have heard tons and tons about using LED lights. Many people worry that these bulbs don’t give off enough light. While it is true that the light quality is different and doesn’t carry as far, todays LED lights are more that sufficient for normal household use. Last week, we went to an estate that decorated with million of LED lights, and we really couldn’t tell the difference.

Stock your freezer and fridge

It is great to save money by stocking up on food when it is on sale, but there is another reason to keep your refrigerator and your freezer as full as possible. This is because the more you have in the refrigerator or freezer, the more efficient that appliance becomes. The food acts acts as insulation and reduces the amount of air in the unit, so the appliance uses less energy to keep everything cool.
