Here are three cute ideas to create a fun Fall wreath to decorate a door this season.
I got the idea for these fun fall wreaths while visiting my local Michaels craft store. On display was a complete kit for a Martha Stewart fall leaf wreath, complete with all of the basic materials that were needed. This looks like a very easy-to-use kit with all pre-assembled pieces, and I was immediately attracted to the design and the look of the materials. You can purchase the kit at Michaels, of course (Look for the 40% off coupons that are usually carried in the Sunday newspapers), or at http://www.marthastewartcrafts.com/ This kit retails for $24.99.
In a take off of that kit, another idea is to make your own wreath using real leaves. You’ll need a poster board wreath shape or a wreath shape that you cut yourself out of cardboard. Gather up an armful of real fall leaves. You can hot glue them onto your wreath shape as is (they should hold their color for a few weeks) or treat them first by dipping or painting the leaves in glycerin and allowing them to dry. This should preserve the color for years to come. It will give the leaves a bright and slightly glossy look.
A third idea for the Fall Wreath is to make your own leaves from paper. Start with the same type of wreath form. This can give you many different effects, from a child’s wreath made of construction paper leaves, to an ethereal wreath using tissue paper or even silk leaves. Or, create something similar to the first idea with the kit, by making your leaves out of card stock and embossing them with an embossing tool (sold with scrap booking supplies). There are so many different possibilities when you make your own leaves.
With any of these wreaths, you can really polish the project by including other materials on your wreath, such as a bright ribbon, fake spiders for Halloween, etc. I hope you have enjoyed these ideas!
