3 Ways to Cut Costs on your Disney World Family Vacation

Often, when you decide to spend your family vacation at Disney World, one of the major factors you need to take into consideration is finance – especially if you are from a country outside the US and need to pay for international flights also. Here are 3 ways to stretch the holiday budget a little further.

1. Check if your travel agent has any special deals on the Disney World entrance tickets. Often these can be bought as part of a larger Orlando theme park package and you’re able to choose from a number of different options as regards the amount of days you want to have entrance into the Disney Parks. If you intend spending most of your vacation going to these parks, then this is often a big money saver, but check that you do want to visit all of the parks included in the package – if you’re only interested in Disney World locations, you may find it’s cheaper to buy a multi-park pass from Disney when you get there.

2. Food and drink are expensive inside Disney World. If you have kids this is going to be a big drain on your spending money. With food and drink policies now restricting what you’re allowed to take into the Parks, your options are limited, but one idea to save money is to take plastic cups with you. Super-size drinks are often much cheaper than buying individual small drinks, so purchase one or two of the largest size available and then divide the contents up into the plastic cups. Cheap, light and easy to carry, these could make a big difference especially when it’s hot and the kids need to drink a lot. It also means you can transfer water from the water fountains into the cups and make it easier to drink, especially for the little ones.

3. There’s a HUGE amount of stuff to tempt your money out of your pocket within all of the Disney Parks. Adults know that there are cheaper versions in tourist areas of Orlando, but small kids especially need more convincing. Talk to them about the cost before you go and set them a budget/item limit. Remember however that some items sold within the Disney World area are exclusive to Disney so if you’re a collector, you may want to set aside a special budget for purchasing something like this before you leave home!

Planning your budget before your vacation starts is a good idea, but remember to keep a little extra unaccounted for to take care of those unexpected extras.
