4 Cheap Ways to Get an Updated Kitchen

Are you getting tired of your kitchen but don’t have have the thousands of dollars it would take to update it? You can still make a big difference in how your kitchen looks and feels without spending more than $30-$50 or so per step. Take one step at a time, or complete all four to make a kitchen that you will be proud to show off.

1. Add Some Lighting

Nothing made a bigger difference in our kitchen than upgrading our lighting. We added four new fixtures in our ceiling. Instantly, the kitchen became much more functional–no more peeling carrots in the dark. It instantly lifted the mood of the kitchen as well.

You can change out an existing fixture or add some under the cabinet task lighting to make a difference, too. or, simply add a dimmer to your existing lighting.

2. New Paint

Grab some paint for as little as $30 a gallon and freshen up the kitchen walls. If you can’t decide on a color, just repaint the same color that you currently have. It will create a clean fresh look to your kitchen and change everything about it pretty much instantly. of course, you can go ahead and opt for a color that is completely different too!

3. Hardware

Just updating your cabinet hardware can bring your kitchen into the current century. New cabinet pulls can start at just $2 a piece. You would be surprised at what a difference updated cabinet hardware can do. They can change the look of the whole room and are so easy to install.

4. Remove the Clutter

Finally, here is an easy way to change your kitchen without spending a dime. De-clutter it! Sparkling countertops and cabinets that can close can make a big difference in how you appreciate your kitchen. There will be more counter space to work with when you cook, and a well organized set of cabinets can make preparing meals so much fun. Trust me, you’ll wander into the kitchen for the first few days just to open drawers and appreciate the serenity.
