4 Quick Tricks to Keeping Things Clean

When it comes to keeping things clean, you can get rich quick–rich in having a clean house. Spend less time cleaning and more time enjoying life when you employ the following four quick tricks to keeping things clean.

Cookbooks

Do your cookbooks carry a history of every meal that you have ever prepared. it is tough keeping pages clean when the cookbook is on the counter or you have dough all over your hands. One way to prevent splatters, drips and other stains is to protect your cookbook with this trick. Simply purchase an inexpensive clear pocket envelope at the office supply store. Place your cookbook open in the sleeve (the sleeve will also keep your page–bonus).

Bathroom Tile & Grout

Hate that bathroom tile and grout that collects soap scum and mildew. It can take hours to scrub it out and harsh chemicals that can affect your health. Instead, get the tile and grout really clean and then try this step to prevent any build up. Rub ordinary white candles on that bathroom grout to coat it. The wax will block and mold, mildew or scum from forming on it. Voila!

Oven Spills

Don’t groan. You won’t spend hours scrubbing out oven spills. Instead, as soon as the spill happens, pour salt on it. This will make the spill crust up, and it will be much easier to clean. it also neutralizes the burning smell that accompanies such spills. The salt trick also works for spilled raw egg. It essentially “cooks” the egg for easier clean up.

Iron Gunk

If you find that your iron has a bunch of gunk on the face of it, don’t get out the steal wool pad and scrub, scrub, scrub. Instead, iron a piece of aluminum foil. The foil will attract the gunk to it as a magnet. You’ll have a clean iron with very little effort.
