Bad habits can be hard to break. But if they are standing in the way of you achieving the fit lifestyle you desire to have, it will be worth the hard work of breaking them.
While everyone experiences their own challenges, there are some bad habits that are fairly common. See if you recognize yourself in any of these.
The first bad habit is setting unrealistic goals. When you raise the bar too high, it can cause you to quickly lose motivation. You can’t run a marathon when you haven’t been off the couch in ages.
Set small, achievable goals. But make sure you are setting short-term and long-term goals. Evaluate your goals each week so that you know how much more you should add to them.
The second bad habit is to get stuck in a fitness routine. Routines can be helpful in preparing and planning an exercise program that works for you. But routines need to be tweaked.
If not, you are at risk of becoming bored with what you are doing. Or your body may not progress beyond a certain point. I suggest changing your routine every 2 to 4 weeks.
A third bad habit is to push beyond your limits. While there is nothing wrong with striving for more, you still have to know your body enough to not go too far. Otherwise you are at risk of injuring yourself.
The fourth bad habit is to skip stretching. It is important that you do a few minutes of this before and after you workout.
Finally, break the bad habit of thinking that by starving yourself you will lose the weight. Eating several smaller, healthier meals throughout the day is better than depriving your body. You need
fuel to exercise and if you are doing it on an empty stomach, you won’t have the energy you need.
Which of these bad habits do you need to overcome?
