When you love someone it doesn’t really matter what you do, as long as you’re together. So today I thought I’d give some fun suggestions of things you and your spouse might do together, as it comes on to Christmas. Some of them might even help others as well.
1. Get a group together and go out caroling. Mick and I did have done this in the past with a group and it was a lot of fun. If you have someone who can play guitar or flute that’s good, but if not the carols are so well-known you don’t need it. Sing acapella.
2 Go to a farm and choose your own Christmas tree. At some places you have to cut them down yourself. At others you simply choose it and they cut it down. Kids usually love being involved in this activity.
3. Enjoy a cooking time. Get together with your spouse or make it a whole family activity and make some simple sweet treats to give to neighbors. Even better make them and take them to a nursing home. You will find plenty of suggestions for sweet treats that are simple to make in the food blog.
4. Have a craft evening where everybody works together on a craft and makes some simple gifts, Christmas cards or Christmas decorations. My husband is definitely the craft person in our household. I help out with color combinations. I’m craftily challenged, but I have been known in the past to attempt simple crafts with family. Our grandchildren with their parents help make us a handcrafted gift every year which is really special.
5. Visit a nursing home or retirement village and give out the sweet treats or gifts you have made. You might need to just check with staff first to make sure no-one has any allergies before you hand them out. There is nothing worse than being given something and then not being able to eat it. Maybe you and you spouse or family could sing some carols for the residents.
