5 Keys to a Hospitable Home

What does it mean to have a hospitable home? It means a home that is welcoming and friendly to those who visit.

It also means a comfortable and pleasant place to live in. So whether you are entertaining guests or taking care of your family, your home should be hospitable.

Here are 5 keys to having a hospitable home…

The first is having at least one room where everyone can comfortably gather. For some people they can’t keep up with an entire house, in making sure it is always guest-ready or family-friendly. So if you pick one room to create a warm, friendly ambience, you will be okay.

To create this you will need to pick warm and cozy colors, furnishings and decorations. Flowers and candles are always a nice touch.

The second key to having a hospitable home is organization. Having a routine in place, such as picking up before you go to bed, can go a long way.

This also means creating a chore schedule or delegating tasks to certain family members. When everyone pitches in, things stay in order.

The third key is to always make sure there is a clean bathroom. Nothing is more embarrassing than having someone come over unexpectedly and they ask to use the bathroom…when you know it’s not fit for use.

Wiping it down on a daily basis can help. While deep cleaning should be done at least once-a-week, you can do a quick cleaning by using Clorox wipes.

The fourth key is to keep your pantry stocked. There are certain items that should always be on hand, in case guests show up…such as coffee, tea or mixes to quick bake muffins or bread. These can also be comfort foods for the family.

Finally, you can have a more hospitable home by getting rid of a perfectionist attitude. Too many people get hung up on perfectionism and think that unless everything is just so, their home isn’t ready for guests.
