5 More Lessons Christian Parents Must Teach Their Children

After I wrote my first article over five lessons Christian parents must teach their children, I thought of just a few more things that needed to be included on that list. As I mentioned in my previous article, there are countless lessons that Christian parents must teach their children; however, I feel there are a few more things which should be mentioned specifically.

  • Christian parents must teach their children to surround themselves with godly friends. Previously I mentioned the importance of parents teaching children the importance of dating Christians, and I think that I missed a really important piece of that ideal. Christian parents must teach their children the importance of having Christian friends, even before children need to be taught the importance of dating Christians. In a sense the two ideals are related because people usually date others from within their circle of friends, so by taking the first step to teach your children to surround themselves with Christian friends, you are also laying a foundation for teaching them the importance of dating Christians.
  • Christian parents must teach their children to love the Word of God. If children do not love the Word of God, they may never see the importance in reading God’s Word nor in obeying what the Bible says. Children must be taught to have a desire to always learn more about God’s Word.
  • Christian parents must teach their children to have the proper attitude toward God. This concept entails so many different aspects, but in short, parents must teach their children to love God as well as have complete reverence toward God.
  • Christian parents must teach their children to share God with others. I struggle with this concept often, and it is something I need to strive to get better at every day. Hopefully, by teaching children to share God with the friends and others at a young age, you will be preparing them for a lifetime of shining as a light in the dark world.
  • Christian parents must teach their children the importance of serving others. Children can be taught to love to serve others at an early age by letting children be involved in different types of activities. For instance, children can bring cookies to church members who are in the nursing home, or make cards to send to sick members. There are numerous ways children can be involved in serving at a young age.
