It’s Spring, and that means Spring Cleaning. For us, that includes detailing the vehicles. You can imagine that with shuttling four teens and pre-teens to activity after activity, my SUV is never as clean as I’d like. Yes, I pay the kids the requisite “extra chore” money to clean it out every week or so. But kid-clean and mom-clean are in different universes. So over the next couple of weeks, I’ll be scrubbing the “I forgot to screw the lid on my coffee mug” spills from the floor, courtesy of dh. And I’ll be disinfecting the rear cup holders that contain melted who-knows-what, courtesy of my youngest (it’s her seat, and that’s obvious to anyone looking at it!).
You can use just plain soap and water when you’re detailing the car. I don’t think it comes out as shiny and sparkling clean, though. I’m frugal, and usually I will use my normal cleaners (GSE, vinegar, etc). When I’m doing it thoroughly, though, I splurge for the extras. Armor All for the tires, specialty vinyl care for the dash, and a host of other products. It’s only once a year, and the one thorough cleaning helps maintain it throughout the rest of the year.
