5 Things To Do While On Bed Rest

So, your doctor has put you on bed rest. If you’ve already watched everything in your DVR and seen every rerun of Bringing Home Baby, I’ve got you covered with a list of five things you can do while you’re stuck in bed or on the couch.

1. Start a blog
The internet, despite how expansive it is, can still get pretty boring after a couple days. Nothing beats boredom better than creativity. Share your experience with bed rest and your pregnancy on your blog. You might find other women in the same situation.

2. Learn how to knit or crochet
Even though I wasn’t on bed rest during my pregnancy, I did pick up crocheting and I discovered that I really enjoy it. By the time my son was born I had made him a baby afghan and a hat that matched his nursery’s color scheme. Now I can make newborn hats and blankets for my friends’ baby showers. It’s easier for some people to learn by watching someone else do it, but if you don’t know anyone who can teach you, try the tutorials available at LionBrand.com.

3. Join a Book Club
There are tons of book clubs online. Barnes & Noble has book clubs on their website at bookclubs.barnesandnoble.com. There is no need to drive to a meeting when the discussion takes place online.

4. Learn a New Language
There’s no better time than when you are stuck at home all day to learn something new, especially a new language. Whether you choose to use online resources, books, CDs or software, by the time your baby arrives you might even be able to teach him or her how to count to ten in three different languages!

5. Scrapbook
Scrapbooking is definitely one of those activities that suck up a lot of your time, making it the perfect hobby for the woman on bed rest. Plan out your child’s baby book for the entire first year. All you will have to do is paste in the pictures and write in the details as you watch your child grow.
