9-9-09 Travel Incentives

When my brother was born on the ninth day of the ninth month at 9:09 a.m. (32 years ago) no one in our family ever considered how auspicious his birthday would be in the year 2009.

While it may not be as lucky as 7-7-07, Wednesday’s 9-9-09 is still being celebrated in a big way by the travel industry. Dozens of hotels and resorts are offering matching month-day-year dates promotions. For example, in Atlantic City, the ultra swanky Borgata Hotel Casino & Spa is offering $99 room rates ($112.86 with tax) Sunday-Thursday through September 30th, depending on availability. Also, on the 9th, those with My Borgata Cards can win $999 in bonus slot dollars. Another 9-9-09 bonus: $99 massages and other spa treatments will be offered weekdays September 7-30th at the hotel’s spa.

Meanwhile, in Sin City, the La Bella Wedding Chapel at the Las Vegas Hilton is featuring a $99 wedding special on Wednesday. It includes the ceremony, flowers and photos. The chapel will also supply a witness (free of charge), if needed.

The Westin Resort on Aruba is also offering a spectacular deal for those trying to conceive a child on 9-9-09. Actually, the hotel’s latest gimmick, dubbed the conception vacation, runs from 9-9-09 until December 19, 2009.

Inspired by coral spawning season on the island, the upscale hotel is offering couples a $300 “conception credit” toward their next stay if they conceive a child while staying at the property.

If you are trying to get pregnant, then consider booking the $399 daily package for two. The deal includes drinks, meals, lodging and tax. As an added bonus, if you reserve a room before September 30th, you’ll get a $100 resort credit toward spa treatments and other resort offerings.

To qualify for the $300 credit you’ll need a note from your doctor saying that your little bundle of joy was conceived around the dates you stayed at the hotel.

Any takers?
