Reality Television For Cats: What’s Next?

Cats togetherAccording to a statement by Reuters dated June 16th of this year, there will be a reality show for ten homeless felines that will take soon take place in a New York City store window! The stars are all non-equity performers from shelters across the country that will be coming in for their close-ups to the camera that will be on them for twenty-four/ seven for a total of ten days. The resulting footage is expected to be a genuine phony reality show with “every cat a top dog” as the article, “This & That” of Anderson Independent Mail states.

Meow Mix is the master creator of this celluloid brain child, and the hope of this project is that not only will these creatures be adopted themselves, but that they will also come to symbolize the plight of the countless thousands of unfortunate cats that live in shelters throughout this great country of ours. The feline stars will be living in a cat-sized house in the window that includes scaled-down sofas, beds, a fish tank (with fake fish), a kitchen and a porch. (What, no gazebo?) The kitchen is stocked with Meow-Mix products.

The stars will not be reading lines or shooting people as in America’s favorite show of this kind, “The Sopranos.” Instead, they will be mugging, not people, but their faces. They don’t have speaking parts, but as Orson Welles once said, “there are no small parts, only small actors.” These feline thespians epitomize the concept of method acting, as they will be doing what cats do best, namely, purring, sleeping and chasing artificial mice. All the stars will receive votes for their performances. (Could this be the start of a Golden Paw Award?) All’s well is destined to end well, as all of the stars will get loving homes as well.
If you can’t put on such a production in your area, maybe you can put on a one-man/woman show of your own and consider adopting a cat instead. June is adopt a cat month in most areas, and it’s not too late even if you are a procrastinator and wait until July!! The prize is even greater than a supply of Meow Mix cat food. It is the adoring love of an animal that will bring unexpected joy into your life if you will have the grace to only open the door.

Adopt an animal and save a life!
