My Kitchen Obsession

By now, anyone who has spent any time at all reading my blogs, will realize immediately which room in my house is my favorite.

Yes, that would be my kitchen.

I’m not sure when my obsession with the kitchen came about, but it sure has been around for a long time. I’m also not sure why it came about either, though perhaps it could be because of my love of food. Period. I love food.

I also love to cook, which causes me to spend a great deal of time in the kitchen. With my large family of seven, I find myself spending more and more time in my favorite room. Between cooking and baking, there’s almost always something on the stove top, oven or crock pot.

My best friend and neighbor often pops her head in towards the end of the day, and has commented several times that my house smells delicious. So I must be doing something right.

But like any obsession, it grew and grew. And beyond cooking and baking, I’ve found that I’m obsessed with saving money in my kitchen.

It has become almost a full-time job, falling in just behind mom and writer. I am constantly on the look out for tips, tricks and money savers. I even pay attention to other women at the grocery store, watching to see how they save.

Wholesale clubs have become second homes to me. Seeking and cutting out coupons has become another hobby and sharing the information with all of you has become a new obsession.

So if it seems that I write about food, or groceries or kitchen items a lot, now you know why.

And just because, I’d like to share a great summertime recipe with you. It’s easy and fun and the kids can help!

Lemonade Pie

1 9” graham cracker crust
4 cups vanilla ice cream, softened
6 oz. can frozen lemonade concentrate, thawed

In medium bowl, mix ice cream and lemonade concentrate until blended. Immediately spoon into graham cracker crust. Freeze at least 4 hours until firm. Let stand at room temperature for a few minutes before cutting.

We’ve made this using different flavors of ice cream and frozen concentrate. Experiment and you can create some delicious concoctions!
