More for the Fourth

Your kids will have fun helping you get ready for Fourth of July celebrations. They can make lots of cute crafts to help you decorate.

Here are a few more ideas:

Garlands and Pennants

Garlands and pennants are simple to make. You can make a super easy garland by cutting strips of red, white, and blue paper, forming a circle and gluing the ends together. String the next strip of paper through the first loop and continue the process, alternating colors or making a pattern (three red, three white, then three blue, etc.).

For pennants, you will need some ribbon or string. Cut elongated triangles from red, white, and blue felt. Fold the flat end over the string or ribbon and glue in place. Move over a couple of inches and add another triangle, alternating colors.

You can also make pennants with stars. Fold a piece of paper or fabric in half and cut out stars, being careful not to cut through the top fold. Place the fold over the string and glue the body of the star together. Make all one color or mix patriotic colors.

Also try twirling red and white paper streamers together. Hang them up, creating swags occasionally. Cut out stars from poster board and paint them blue or cover them with blue felt. Attach a star at the beginning and end of each swag. This idea will work cute with the star shaped centerpiece posted previously.

Posters

Your kids can also make cute posters to welcome your guests. Cut out lots of great big stars and glue them to a piece of poster board. Add shiny star stickers too. Write “Welcome” or “Happy Fourth of July” in large letters.

You can also use streamers to create a pretty border around a poster with bursts of curling ribbon cascading down from each corner. Write a message in the center for your guests
