Ancestry.com has a page that is filled with links to their Ohio collections of records. In order to access these collections, you need to have an Ancestry.com membership. Sometimes, a collection will be offered for free (often for a limited time). Return to their page often. Ancestry.com does a great job of making it clear when a collection is new, has been updated, or is currently offered for free.
Internment.net has a search engine at the top of its page. Start by putting your ancestor’s first and last name into it. Or, you can start by clicking on a link for a county in Ohio. If there is a link, then Internment.net has information about records from cemeteries that are located within that county. Sorry, Paulding, Seneca, Warren, Gallia, and Morrow counties have no links.
FamilySearch has a Wiki page about Ohio. There are links to more FamilySearch Wiki pages about each county in the state. You can also find links to information about major repositories of records that are located in Ohio. Towards the bottom of the page are a list of links to other FamilySearch Wiki pages about specific FamilySearch collections of Ohio records.
Facebook has a Community Page for FamilySearch Ohio Genealogy. This is a great resource for genealogists who want to connect with other genealogists who are also working on Ohio genealogy right now. You will also find posts about relevant FamilySearch collections for Ohio.
Cyndi’s List may very well be the most comprehensive list of links to online genealogy resources. If it is on the internet, then Cyndi’s List probably has a link to it. They have a page called “United States – Ohio”. Start by selection a category. Some categories include: “Birth, Marriage, Death”, “Census”, “Counties”, “Military”, “Newspapers”, and more!
GeneaLinks also has a search engine at the top of its page. Put your ancestor’s first and last name into it. Select which type of records you want to search through: vital, birth, death, marriage, divorce, or “Genealogy”. GeneaLinks also has helpful information for genealogists who are new to Ohio genealogy. Did you know Ohio is an “open record” state? That means it is easy to get documentation on your “Buckeye” ancestors!
