Twelve Months Post Partum: An Exercising Journey Part VIII

As much as I was loving the burn I received from my more recent workout routine, after about six months of dedication, I was ready for something different.  Even though I still had a good pound and a half to lose (and keep off legitimately) to meet my newest post partum weight loss goals, my body, while stronger than it has ever been before, needed a break from the high intensity, high impact, and high insanity workouts. The jump work from this particular series of exercises were taking a tole on my joints and I knew that my body could not take this kind of regular beating indefinitely.

Around the same time that I was realizing that I needed to change up my exercise routine, my husband finally sought therapy for his lower back (slipped disk) issues. As it turns out his core is weak (not a surprise to me at all) and unable to support his spine properly.  I have been on his case on and off for our entire marriage trying to get him to exercise and he has always refused most vehemently.   Now that we are investing a considerable amount of money into his rehabilitation, a regular workout routine is an absolute must for my husband.  He did a few workouts with me and hated them because they were too intense.  I was extremely frustrated with his lack of willingness and commitment!  I started doing my own research and found a yoga routine that would help him strengthen his core without being “too intense.”   He was still resistant so I did the yoga workout with him.  He absolutely loved it and I discovered that yoga was exactly what I needed to increase my balance and flexibility while maintaining my muscle tone and giving my body a break!  I am not sure if I will ever burn the last pound and a half of baby weight, but I am still going to try and I will still do an insane workout a couple times a week for cardio’s sake!
