Celebrating Mother’s Day at a restaurant is not cheap, especially if you are treating the entire family to a lavish buffet. To save on a delicious dining experience while still showing mom that she is worth her weight in gold, consider starting the day with breakfast in bed.
Gather the kids and have fun in the kitchen making mom these simple and affordable breakfast favorites:
FRENCH TOAST BAKE
Ingredients:
1 loaf cinnamon bread
6 eggs
2 cups milk
2 teaspoons vanilla
1/2 cup butter
1/2 cup brown sugar
1/2 cup flour
1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
Directions:
Preheat oven to 350 degrees.
Cut bread into 1-inch cubes and place in a casserole dish that has been sprayed with cooking spray.
Whisk together eggs, milk, and vanilla.
Pour mixture over bread cubes.
Let bread sit while you mix together butter, brown sugar, cinnamon, and flour with a fork.
Sprinkle over bread.
Cover bread loosely with aluminum foil and bake in oven for 40 minutes.
Uncover and bake another 10 to 20 minutes or until top is golden.
Serve with warm maple syrup.
BACON AND EGG BISCUIT BAKE
Ingredients:
6 eggs
1/4 milk
1 (16.3-oz.) can Pillsbury Grands! Refrigerated Biscuits
8 pieces bacon, cooked and crumbled
1 1/2 cups shredded cheddar cheese
Directions:
Preheat oven to 350 degrees.
Spray a 13 x 9 baking dish with cooking spray.
Whisk together eggs, milk, salt and pepper.
Separate dough into 8 biscuits; cut each into quarters.
Gently stir biscuit pieces into egg mixture to coat evenly.
Fold in bacon and cheese.
Place mixture into baking dish.
Arrange biscuit pieces in single layer.
Bake for about 20 to 25 minutes.
Remove from oven and serve warm.
