I collect planners like Pooh collects pots of honey. Like Pooh, the inside is normally empty. You see, I know how to use a planner but it is implementation that really counts. The failure in this area has not prevented me from seeking a new planner. I am still under some misguided belief that a planner will change my world. My excitement to see The Ultimate Homeschool Planner arrive in the mail was not muted by past shortcomings. I ooed and awed at the site of the beautiful and durable planner. My first flip through showed me the expected weekly and monthly breakdowns along with a place to add students and student goals. I smiled thinking how wonderful it would be if I actually used it. My heart soared reading the quotes on the beginning of each weekly plan. I love quotes. As I took a closer look I saw something that only one as haphazard as me would appreciate….no preset dates! I love fill-in-the-date because I don’t feel like a loser for seeing all the months I missed and there are no wasted pages. Now, for those who plan much better than I, you can tailor make the planner to suit dates that work for you. When I finally took the time to read the “user’s guide” I realized the treasure I held in my hands.
The Ultimate Homeschool Planner is not just a planner but a planning system. A system that encourages time management, priorities, and spiritual growth. The system’s purpose is teach a child to become independent and manage time. Since, I need the same, I figured my kids and I could learn together. The Ultimate Homeschool Planner is a system to make your days, weeks, and months, run smoothly while encouraging time management for both you and your students. There is just one catch. You must use it.
Now, if you need something to inspire you to make this planner your best friend it is the weekly plan for spiritual growth. The section allows you to plan your weekly bible reading, a verse focus, prayers for the week, and to plan outreach activities. The next page allows you space to record memorable moments and achievements and praises. If not for this section, my planner would never see the light of day. Now, don’t get me wrong, the planner is fantastic but it only works if you use it. It is the using it that just doesn’t click with me. However, I promised myself I would become more purposeful about teaching bible as a family and planning ahead in general. I also wanted my children to learn to complete tasks independently and take ownership over their school work and chores. The Ultimate Homeschool Planner provided me all the tools needed for a successfully planned school year while encouraging me to succeed beyond the planner and use a system. If it can turn my life around it certainly can turn your life around. Just remember to use it…once you do you won’t be able to put it down.
