Five Reasons to Love Brandon Routh – The New Superman

In case you have not heard, there is a new Superman in town. Over the years, several actors have played the beloved character. After starring in the television series “Adventure of Superman” in the Fifties, actor George Reeves found himself typecast as the Superman character, losing many acting jobs due to that fact. Christopher Reeve found fame playing Superman, starring as the Man of Steel in 1978’s blockbuster hit “Superman.” Handsome actor Dean Cain played Superman for four years on the small screen in “Lois & Clark: The New Adventures of Superman.”

The first new Superman movie in almost 25 years, Superman Returns stars Brandon Routh. So just who is the new Superman and why should we love him? Here are a few facts about Brandon Routh that tell you a little more about the new man behind the cape.

1. Just like Superman, Brandon grew up in rural America. Born in Des Moines, Iowa, Brandon grew up in the nearby small town of Norwalk.

2. He was wearing his Superman pajamas at the age of five when he watched his first Superman movie on television.

3. Like Christopher Reeve before him, Brandon was a struggling actor before being cast as Superman by directory Bryan Singer. While auditioning, he supplemented his income by tending bar at the famous Lucky Strikes Bowling Lanes in Hollywood.

4. Brandon has experience playing a hunk. He played Seth Anderson on the soap opera One Life to Live from 2001-2002. His 6’3” statue and chiseled good looks help make him the perfect Superman!

5. He phoned his girlfriend of 2 1/2 years, actress Courtney Ford, every night while filming the new Superman movie in Australia. Kryptonite is Superman’s weakness, but Courtney is Brandon’s weakness. He has been quoted as saying, “She brings me to my knees.” That is enough to make Lois Lane jealous!
