Free Scrapbooking Inspiration

With scrapbooking, as with any art, we are always looking for new sources of inspiration for our work. Keeping up with all of the scrapbooking magazine would be impossible and unbelievably expensive. So here are a few ideas for free scrapbooking ideas and information.

Go to the Library. Your local library can be a great source of scrapbooking and paper crafts idea books. I have notice that our library stays pretty current with idea books. If your library doesn’t have a good selection of scrapbooking idea books, you could always request that they buy some. Also, try checking out other books related to design such as home decorating books for color inspiration and graphic design books for layout ideas.

Swap magazines and ideas books with a friend. Some of my scrapbooking friends buy magazines or idea books that I don’t have. Suggest setting up a trade with a friend or group of friends so that everyone can benefit from looking through a new magazine. Make sure to write your name on your magazine to help ensure that you get it back.

Look though your non-scrapbooking magazines. Most magazines place some importance on the design layout of the magazine. If the magazine style doesn’t inspire you, then check out the ads in the magazine. You can study the color combinations and layouts used in the ads.

Go to you favorite store. Many stores like Target and some department stores really put an emphasis on design. Check out the signs hanging from the ceiling or placed near the entrance to the store. Try going on a shopping trip where you are only shopping for designs, not products. Take along a sketchpad and let the ideas flow.

I hope you will try out some of these ideas to help you find new ideas to use in your scrapbooking projects.
