A Review of “The Best of Fun for Family Night”

If you feel like you just cannot come up with another idea for family home evening then you should check out “The Best of Fun for Family Night” by Max H. Molgard and Alan K. Burgess. This is a great resource that is available to supplement your family home evening lessons.

The book includes thirty-four lessons on a wide variety of topics. The lessons revolve around an activity or a game. In a few lessons there are several activities and in others there is just one. It depends on the length of the game. The games are then tied back to the principle of the lesson.

In addition to the lessons there is a resource section which includes twenty-five additional games which you can use in other family home evening lessons that you may plan. There are two lists of game trivia questions available at the end of the book. The first list is for adults and older children. The second list is for younger children. The book also comes with a CD-ROM, which contains all the pages that you may want to cut out to use for the games. It makes it easy to prepare the games.

This is a fun resource for your family. We found that most of the games were designed with older children (school age) in mind, but that with adjustments you can make the games work for a younger crowd. The object lessons and games really reach out to the kids.

This resource is great for family members who need to put together a lesson quickly. It can also liven up the activities that you may already be doing as a family. The format is simple and easy to follow. The supplies needed for each lesson are listed at the beginning of the lesson and so you can have a lesson ready in about fifteen minutes depending on the amount of preparation needed.
