Have you ever heard of Cuts Fitness for Men? It’s the answer for men looking to discover the success that women attending Curves for Women have discovered. Women who use Curves for Women have long since discovered that the ladies only gym provides both a circle of support as well as losing weight and toning up with the circuit training that you need only perform 30 minutes a day 3 to 4 times per week.
The equipment at Curves for Women is designed specifically for women, to help them tone and shape. The theory is sound, but for men looking to trim down and have a more cut physique want equipment that is tailored to a taller, broader frame and specifically for men.
The answer lies in the gym center called Cuts Fitness for Men. This center is the brainchild of John Gennaro. Gennaro is a 25-year fitness industry veteran of the fitness industry. He took a leaf from the tree of the women’s fitness explosion in the 90s and decided that men would benefit from a similar atmosphere and approach that cannot be found at more traditional gyms like Gold’s.
He recognized that men could be uncomfortable heading back to a gym with power lifters if they are not toned and cut like the other men in attendance. His answer for those men was Cuts Fitness for Men. Recognizing the hot movement in the fitness industry, he opened his first Cuts in New Jersey in 2003. Since then, more than 200 franchises have been sold in 32 states.
Cuts was named one of the top 20 franchises in 2006 for Entrepreneur magazine and while Cuts is not yet achieved the prominence of Curves 4 million members, it has definitely begun to set the tone for men’s fitness and a new paradigm for men’s gyms in the United States.
The average Cuts member is 40 years old, married and he’s not there looking to score with a woman and he recognizes he’s not going back to his 25 year old look. He’s got a couple of kids, a wife and limited time to try and trim back the extra pounds he’s put on over the years. With the baby boomers comprising the fastest growing demographic in the health and fitness industry, Cuts Fitness for Men is answering a clarion call that Curves for Women began trumpeting back in the 90s.
