Hotel Party For Kids

During a family vacation a hotel often becomes a home away from home. It’s a place to crash after a day at the amusement park. Frequently it is the location of a wedding reception or business meeting. But, have you ever considered celebrating your child’s birthday in one?

Allow me to explain. My daughter recently received an invitation to a “hotel birthday party.” Well, hotel is a bit of an understatement. It’s technically a resort and waterpark located about 35 miles from our home. We could easily make the drive to and from the party without having to spend the night, but the invitation came with a coupon that offers a room discount to partygoers who want to remain at the hotel after the party is over. Clever.

I searched the Internet and it seems this particular resort is not the only one that offers birthday party packages. Apparently, it’s a growing trend in kiddie parties. If your child likes pizza, video games, and waterslides then a resort with a waterpark may be the ideal place to host his next birthday. The resort listed on my daughter’s party invitation offers two birthday packages. Both include all-day guest passes to the waterpark, pizza for guests and a party room rental. Added options include arcade tokens and a birthday cake. Packages (for up to 10 guests) range from $100-$200.

I researched several other resorts that offered kid party packages and found what might be considered one of the best reasons to have a hotel host your kid’s birthday—a personal party planner. Most resorts offer party planners (included in the price of the birthday package) who take care of all of your event’s details. Their job is to allow parents to enjoy their child’s bog day without having to worry about preparation, food, games, entertainment… and the dreaded clean up.

If you are interested in having a resort/waterpark birthday party simply call the resort nearest your home and ask if they offer birthday packages. Most hotels also offer discounted room rates to party guests as an incentive.
