Easy Classroom Valentines part 2

Yesterday I shared two easy Valentines for your kids to make for their friends or classmates. Each starts with a sweet treat and uses simple craft materials to complete. Here are two more, in case your little sweetie needs more inspiration.

Hershey’s Kiss Flower

This easy flower has a Hershey Kiss center. Make a whole bouquet for someone really special.

You will need:

Hershey’s kisses
Craft foam
Scissors
Green pipe cleaners

1. Cut a flower shape out of the craft foam. To save time, you can purchase craft foam in pre-cut shapes. If your child has a hard time free-handing a flower, make a paper pattern for her so she can trace it onto the foam before cutting.

2. Cut a small X in the middle of the flower.

3. Stick a Hershey’s kiss, pointy side facing the flower, into the X so it’s snug in the center of the flower.

4. Wrap the end of a pipe cleaner tightly around the pointy end of the kiss on the back of the flower twice so the pipe cleaner stays securely in place. If it feels like it might slip, use a piece of tape to help hold it in place.

5. Bend a leaf shape about halfway down the pipe cleaner. Twist it around once so it stays put.

Peek-a-boo Heart Card

This Valentine is simple, but does require a little more time than the rest, so this project is for a kid with an appropriate attention span or a small class.

You will need:
Craft foam
Scissors
Hole Punch
Ribbon
Small plastic bags with seals (you can find these at the craft store)
Conversation hearts, red hots or other small candies

1. Cut a strip of craft foam, about 7 inches by 3 inches.

2. Cut a heart out of the top half of the foam, as shown.

3. Fold the foam in half. Punch holes through both layers all the way around the sides and bottom. Don’t punch holes in the top.

4. Cut a piece of ribbon about a foot long. Thread it in and out of the holes to sew the pouch together.

5. Fill the bag with candies and insert into the pouch.

6. Tie the ends of the ribbon in a bow across the front of the pouch.
