I suppose it was just a matter of time. Although, how much time, well, one just never knows. I’m talking about how long it took for Academy Award-winning actress Hilary Swank to begin a new relationship after splitting from her husband actor Chad Lowe.
PEOPLE Magazine is reporting that Swank has a new man in her life–John Campisi, one of her agents. The magazine says it is the “real deal” and provided details of the couple’s recent getaway to an Italian villa and described an intimate moment when the pair “stopped for kisses and snuggles as they contentedly wandered through Rome’s Piazza Navona, leaving no doubt that their relationship has morphed from agent-client to something much more personal.”
For those of you who need a refresher course in Hollywood Relationships 101: Swank and Lowe; you’ll recall that the actress announced her split with her husband of 8 years in January. For months rumors swirled about what could have possibly caused the super-star couple to call it quits. It was later revealed by Swank that Lowe had abused drugs while he was married to her and kept it a secret for months.
Swank filed for divorce a few months ago and as the paperwork moved forward several entertainment magazines reported that Swank decided to hide from the pending media ambush by fleeing to India where she took part in “charity work, teaching English to school kids.” PEOPLE reports that upon Swank’s return to the states she “began spending more and more time with Campisi.”
While neither party has commented about their “new relationship,” ironically, several news sources have revealed that Campisi is also going through a divorce, though the reports say that their respective splits “had nothing to do with their relationship.” Regardless, Swank’s attraction to Campisi seems to be strong enough to make her break a recent “no-romance” pledge she had made earlier this year.
“I can’t imagine going out right now and trying to find someone else to be with,” she told “Vanity Fair” this summer.
I like both Swank and Lowe and wish them both well. But, getting back to the comment I made at the beginning of this blog. How long is long enough to wait before dating, given that their respective divorces have yet to be finalized? (Or are there no rules when it comes to dating in Hollywood?)
