Want an Easy but Good Workout? How About Walk Away the Pounds?

Many of you know if you have read my previous blogs in the fitness category that I am a Firm believer. I love The Firm workouts!

However, the other day I wasn’t feeling so well, battling a late summer cold. My nose was stuffy, my chest hurt and my body felt like I had been hit by a truck. Yet, call me crazy, I felt the need to work off that pizza I had eaten the night before. I knew I needed to do something, but I didn’t want to completely kill myself in the process. I looked at The Firm workouts and I knew that I didn’t have the energy to complete even the first 15 minutes of one of them. Then, something caught my eye, something I hadn’t taken out of its case in quite some time. Leslie Sansone’s Walk Away the Pounds Two Mile Power Walk.

I knew that was what I needed! I wanted a good workout where I could work up a slight sweat but not get too winded. I popped in the video and there was Leslie, perky as always. As usual, Leslie had a whole gang of people working out with her. All ages and genders were present and accounted for. Fit people along with people just starting a fitness program were along for the ride. Leslie, as usual, was trying to show that her walking program is for anyone of any age, gender and fitness level. She is right; Walk Away the Pounds is doable for just about anyone.

Leslie, while a bit too perky at times, is a great instructor. None of the moves are ever difficult. You will encounter the same moves throughout Leslie’s different Walk Away the Pounds series. Knee raises, kickbacks, an easy version of the grapevine, pull-downs with your arms, and regular old kicks. These are pretty much the extent of the program.

Throughout the video the miles you walk are flashed on the screen starting with a half mile until you have completed the entire number of miles that the tape or DVD is for. Leslie offers one mile, two mile, three mile, four mile and I believe a new five mile walking workouts for people to choose from. She also has a great workout DVD for those who want a bit more than walking (I own this also) Leslie Sansone’s Walk and Jog. She does walking intervals and jogging intervals for a two and a half mile span. This is a great workout also.

I did these walking videos during my second pregnancy; they were alternated with a video made for pregnant mommies. I gained 18 pounds that pregnancy. I like to think Leslie Sansone helped keep my weight gain to a minimum, because my eating certainly wasn’t helping!

Walk Away the Pounds is a great workout! If you are an advanced exerciser, they may be a bit too easy for you. However, on days when you are ill or just want something different, they are nice to have on hand. If you are trying to lose weight and don’t want something with a lot of fancy moves but is still effective, give Leslie Sansone a try! You never know, you may just “walk away those extra pounds” with her help!
